ANBO will take an active part in the next World Water Forum

The Dakar 2021 Organizing Committee took the opportunity of the Tunis GA to hold a parallel session on the Participation of the African Network of Basin Organizations in the next World Water Forum. The discussions were moderated by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Abdoulaye Séne, and Mr. Fawzi Bedredine, Chairman of the OMVS Committee for the preparation of the Forum. They made it possible to gather the proposals of the basin organizations on a certain number of aspects: how could ANBO support OMVS in its mission as a strategic partner of Dakar 2021 on the theme Cooperation? How ANBO could be represented on each thematic working group? which projects could the network propose for labelling? which concrete modalities of participation in the event for the network.

A very useful session that clarified the mission of OMVS, the roadmap set by the World Forum (with a consultation of the different regions of the world on this theme, taking advantage of the global water agenda) and especially what contributions are expected from the Network. The participants proposed that OMVS should rather rely on a limited task force (from ANBO's coordination office) and that the network should designate a representative in each thematic working group.  At the forum itself, ANBO could organize a pavilion, it is up to it to define the content. A commitment that ANBO President Judith ENAW summarized as follows: "We must be there"

It should be recalled that Senegal, which is hosting the next edition of the World Water Forum, has designated OMVS as a strategic partner for the preparation of the "cooperation" theme.
