The Government of Morocco and the World Water Council are launching the 7th Edition of the King Hassan II Great World Water Prize, one of the world's great distinctions in the water sector.
Under the overarching theme of “Water security in territories for sustainable development and food security”, this 7th edition of the Great Prize gives recognition to candidates making significative contributions to ensure water security throughout the world, on a territorial level, to enable sustainable and equitable development of populations while preserving nature, protecting the health of populations, and promoting agricultural policies suited to food security.
Presented every three years in conjunction with the World Water Forum, the Prize will be awarded on 21 March 2022 at the opening ceremony of the 9th World Water Forum that will take place in Diamniadio (Dakar), Senegal, from 21 to 26 March 2022.
For this edition, the winner will be granted an award increased from US$100,000 to US$500,000 upon the decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Candidates - an individual, a group of individuals, or an organization - must be nominated by at least two individuals and/or organizations active in the water resources sector.
The application that was to be submitted before 31 December 2021, via the online nomination form available at: www.hassan2gwwp.org is extended to 31 January 2022.
