GWP’s involvement in the 9th World Water Forum spans across the global, continental, regional and country level. Representatives of GWP are involved as members of different working groups for the Forum’s priorities. Examples of this include active participation from our Chair in the Action Group on Implementing IWRM at all levels. In addition, the West African TEC and the Global Secretariat are both participating in the Rural Development pilot group and the Secretariat is observing in its Action Group on water and migration.
Finally, GWP is also represented in the consultative group for the Action Group:”Implement transboundary cooperation to foster peace and prevent conflicts" also under the Cooperation Priority. At the regional level, GWP West Africa has been working with partner organisations such as ECOWAS to coordinate the involvement of West African countries in the Forum. At a country level, the Senegal Water Partnership will continue to work closely with the Forum team on preparations for the event. The GWP network will aim to provide to Forum participants its vast experience from the ground demonstrating how good governance can help improve water security.
