A meeting took place in Dakar between Abdoulaye Sène, Executive Secretary of the 9th World Water Forum and Arai Tatsuo, Ambassador of Japan on the preparation of the 9th World Water Forum. During this meeting, Japan expressed its willingness to collaborate with Senegal to contribute to the success of the Forum, in accordance with the exemplary relations that exist between the two countries. Future exchanges will allow to better define the axes of this collaboration.
Japan, which hosted the 3rd World Water Forum in Kyoto in 2003, is one of the most committed countries on water issues worldwide. Since the 4th World Water Forum in 2006 in Mexico City, the Kyoto World Water Grand Prize has been awarded every three years to local organisations working to address water issues in low-income countries. The prize will be awarded again at the 9th World Water Forum.
