In Uganda, the Secretariat of the 9th World Water Forum and the World Water Council unite African water operators around Dakar 2021
The African Water Association (AfWA) Congress which gathered in Kampala on 24-27 February 2020 was a great opportunity to promote the 9th World Water Forum. The Congress was opened by Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between countries to ensure better water management for peace and development.
On this occasion, Serigne Mbaye Thiam, Minister of Water and Sanitation of Senegal, and Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council, recalled the challenges faced by African water operators to secure supply and ensure services meeting the challenges posed by global changes. All participants were invited to share their experiences during the 9th World Water Forum.
In this context, a partnership agreement was signed between the African Water Association, the World Water Council and the Executive Secretariat of the 9th World Water Forum to involve all water and sanitation professionals in the preparation of the forum and the promotion of their know-how in Dakar in March 2021.
