The 9th World Water Forum, which will take place in Dakar from 21 to 26 March 2022, is being prepared in good conditions. This was the observation made during the meetings of the Executive Secretariat and the World Water Council in Dakar, from 31 May to 4 June, which enabled the various aspects that should ensure the success of the event to be addressed, in particular the thematic content, the mobilisation of stakeholders, communication, logistics, the Initiative Dakar 2022, exhibitions, etc.
The exchanges were fruitful between the World Water Council delegation led by President Loïc Fauchon accompanied by Mr Patrick Lavarde, co-chair of the Forum, and the Executive Secretariat team led by Mr Abdoulaye Sène. They allowed for the readjustment of the action plans to be implemented until March 2022. With 9 months to go before the event, the preparation of the Forum is efficiently coordinated by the teams in Dakar and Marseille. The whole thematic process is well underway with more than 700 organisations from all over the world involved in the four priorities of the Forum. The political part of the Forum is also under construction with different segments (Heads of State, Ministers, Parliamentarians, Basin Leaders, Local Authorities).
Meetings have also been held with Senegalese institutions and personalities whose involvement will be decisive for the success of the Forum. These included Mr. Mansour Faye, Minister of Infrastructures, Land Transport and Disenclavement, Mr. Aliou Sall, President of the Association of Mayors of Senegal and Mr. Aymérou Gningue, President of a group in the National Assembly. They reiterated their commitment to contribute to the success of the Forum concerning transport and the mobilisation of local elected representatives and parliamentarians.
New milestones have thus been set so that Dakar 2022 will be an effective and historic Forum of responses and will meet the expectations of actors who will come from all over the world.
