Strategic partnership with France for Dakar 2022 to achieve its objectives

Within the framework of the Strategic Partnership Protocol with France concerning the preparation and organisation of the 9th World Water Forum, Mr Abdoulaye SENE, Executive Secretary of the Forum, held a bilateral working session on 13 April, chaired by Mr Philippe Lalliot, Ambassador of France to Senegal, and the "Equipe France" coordinated by Mr Yann Werhling, Ambassador Delegate for the Environment. This meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress of the Forum, the implementation of joint actions and particularly the technical, political and financial support from France.

During the meeting, it was noted a convergence of views on subjects of strategic interest, such as water, which was supported by President Sall, and climate change, which was supported by President Macron. A synergy of actions is in sight to link the "Water and Climate" agenda in order to effectively contribute to the recovery of the post-Covid-19 economy, the negative repercussions of which could slow down the achievement of the sustainable development objectives, in particular objective n°6.

As a reminder, in 2012, France hosted the 6th World Water Forum in Marseille, which brought together participants from all over the world for the Time for Solutions and a strong political commitment to water.
