While adapting to the constraints of the Covid 19 pandemic, the mobilisation of stakeholders has been strengthened in recent weeks, mainly through webinars and virtual meetings at the national and international levels. At the international level, exchanges have continued with many organisations for roadmaps that have been readjusted following the postponement of the Forum. This is the case, for example, with AMCOW (the African Ministers' Council on Water), UNESCO, UNICEF, CIRAT (International Centre for Water and Transdisciplinarity) in Brazil, etc.
As the Forum is taking place for the first time in sub-Saharan Africa, the continent's stakeholders are strongly committed to its success thanks to the African Union, AMCOW, the African Water Association, etc.
Moreover, thanks to CIRAT, Latin America will be one of the main stakeholders of the Forum through a strong involvement of its actors in the different preparatory activities. This will make it possible to establish major links between the 8th World Water Forum in Brasilia and the 9th Forum, which will take place in Dakar in March 2022. Similar steps will be taken towards other parts of the world, notably Asia, Europe, etc.
At the national level, mobilisation continued with meetings to revitalise the partnership protocols with different partners (OLAC, SAED, ONAS, SpeaUpAfrica, OFOR, etc.) and redefine the roadmap following the postponement of the Forum and the spread of Covid 19. Exchanges also took place with the Ministry of Culture and Communication and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment to explore ways of establishing partnerships, in order to involve cultural actors and rural people in the preparation of the Forum.
In the coming months, there will be new initiatives around the world for an inclusive multi-actor Forum involving local elected officials, civil society, private sector, youth, women, etc.
